Shelby Cobra 289 FIA Bondurant Edition (1 of 50) is a historically accurate continuation roadster based on the car piloted by world-champion driver Bob Bondurant from the 1964 race season. This tribute is built to exacting standards with period-correct features identical to the original cars as they raced … including the same frame, leaf spring suspension, 14-gallon fuel tank, 16-inch original-style wood rim steering wheel, driver's race seat, high-beam activation switch, diagonal roll bar, knock-off spinners, Shelby American CSX2000 serial-numbered dash plaque, and original-style engine bay chassis number plate. On the outside it includes a front air dam (chin spoiler), bug deflector, transverse nose stripe, painted roundels and race numbers, painted quick jacks and country of origin plate. On the interior it includes mirror position, leather seats, passenger grab bar, and period-correct dash layout, gauges and switches. When it came to decide on an engine, there was only one choice. Shelby Engine Company made a brand-new 364ci V8 engine that puts out 500 HP with 4 Weber 48 IDA carburetors and matching-numbers aluminum block. Trimmed in Shelby's famous black-finned valve cover package and period-correct Harrison coolant tank, the engine is mated to a TREMEC TKX 5-speed manual transmission.
