If you were a fan of Ford VS Ferrari then this is the car for you! This Superformance MKII Slabside SPS0056 was custom ordered to resemble the 289 driven by Matt Damon (Carroll Shelby) in the movie.
SPS0056 is finished in a stunning royal blue color; a clear bra was fitted to nose and fenders to protect the beautiful finish. This in like new condition Slab features authentic rear exit undercar exhaust with ceramic coated headers to maintain the sleek original style appearance. It even wears genuine 2-lug knock offs splined 15” X 6” Dayton chrome wire wheels with 205/70/R15 tires front and rear.
Original style Sun visors, polished stainless-steel bumpers front and rear, wind wings and fender side vents help create the picture of 1960s sophistication. Options include a tonneau cover, Polished stainless steel FIA Roll bar, functional fresh air hood scoop and 17 gallon stainless steel fuel tank.
The Roush 347R made an extraordinary 480 horsepower and 430 ft. lbs. of torque at engine dyno. The installation was expertly completed by the Arizona resident Superformance experts, Airpark Motorsports, known for their above standard work. The engine is kept cool by the Harrison expansion tank and HD Aluminum radiator with thermostatic controlled HD electric fan; a manual override is located on dash. The small block V8 connects to a 5-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch that sends all the power to a ZF limited-slip IRS differential housing the 3.52:1 final ratio gears.
This Superformance MK II Street 289 stays true to the original John Tojeiro designed chassis with its 3” tubular rail ladder style main tubes and welded crossmember. The rack & pinion steering helps keep the car pointed faithfully while the fully adjustable front and rear transverse leaf spring style suspension manages bumps in the road. Ross Henry designed and engineered several upgrades for Superformance that were incorporated into the car. These include Heim joints fitted to the lower control arms, adjustable shocks front and rear, along with front and rear sway bars to sharpen the MKII's handling. Stopping power is impressive due to the car's power disc 4 piston Wilwood Brakes with double master cylinders.
SPS0056 has a classic Moto-Lita hardwood-rimmed steering wheel, along with period correct Stewart Warner gauges. Amoretta Tan leather was fitted throughout the interior including the seats (on sliders). The convertible has an original style grab handle, heater/defroster controls and fresh air vents. A side-screen pocket is located behind the seats and the Superformance car has both door and map pockets.
The Superformance MK II Street 289 is a meticulously engineered and crafted reproduction of the original, built under license from Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. No expense was spared in recreating the legendary cars, ensuring an authentic sports car experience.
SPS0056 is being sold on MSO with only 150 original miles and available for $141,000.00
